Flights Check!

All groups should have all 4 legs of their flights done and an itemized list of the costs for each. Please keep track of this information because it needs to get turned in! You should be working now on the hotels and then the activities in each destination. Don't forget rooms are booked by the number of nights not days and that you need to have enough bedspace for all of your group members in each room or book multiple rooms. If you have an overnight flight you will not need a hotel room for that night.

Virtual Trip Around The World

Now that CRCT's are done we will be traveling the world. You will have two weeks in your groups to use your lottery money (10,000 each) to see a country in each of the three regions we've studied. Don't forget your money has to last for the whole 21 days that you are traveling in June and that your airfare must include a return ticket back to Atlanta!! I have attached the assignment and helpful sites for the project under the assignment heading.

Today we looked at the Korean War, The Rebuiliding of Japan after WWII, and the Vietnam War through the eyes of Conflict. Religion Begins!!

Today we started learning about Hinduism. We started reading Chapter 27 and filling out the 5 Religion Graphic Organizer. You can find the link to print one at home under the assignments heading. We saw a great movie on Hinduism and look forward to doing the same tomorrow with Buddhism.

We have a test on Friday over the geography of Asia and the major religions there.

Don't forget  to complete your chart including Judaism, Islam, and Christianity by Wednesday!

This Week

Monday- We watched all of the groups present their Prezi projects in class and posted our prezi links to our wiki pages so that all class members can review and comment on each others projects. Every student should have a paragraph or two on their own page by their prezi link as to which group made the best argument for how governments in Africa could better deal with the AIDS crisis.

Tuesday- We saw the documentary Foul Water Fiery Serpent about the guinea worm problem in Africa. All students should have received a Governments of Africa Reveiw Sheet that they will need to have complete by Thursday.

Wednesday- We will work on our review sheets and Prezi posts ( link for the review sheet is also under the assginments link)

Thursday- We will go over the review sheets and play review games for Friday's test on the Governments of Africa

AIDS Projects Begin!!

Tuesday and Wednesday-
On Tuesday and Wednesday we finished up learning about the different governmental structures in South Africa, Kenya, and the Sudan. We also viewed a promethean presentation on the Sudan region of Darfur.

We also finished up class yesterday breaking into our groups for our project on AIDS and learned a little about how the disease is crippling much of Sub Saharan Africa. We read a diary entry from a 13 year old AIDS orphan and began filling out our problem/solution handouts.

Thursday-
The groups continued answering their problem sheets to answer the question, What preventative measures are currently in place in Africa to deal with AIDS? What problems do you see with what the governments are currently doing?

Friday- We learned about the history of Kenya and read a play that was an interview of Kenya's first black president, Kenyatta. We also showed a short clip of his country with a timeline of important events that occurred durring colonization in Africa.

African History Begins...

Thursday- We went over the Unit One Test for Africa. As well as, began filling out a history gathering worksheet on Africa. We will continue completing the sheet in class on Friday and discuss our answers.

Monday- I will be out of the building but you will be seeing a film on child soldiers in Sierra Leone.
